Its not all work and no play. Here are Stefan Gasparin, Peter Smart and George and Penny enjoying Stefan and Vera Gasparins hospitality. You can see just how small some of Stefan's motors are, both he and Peter are holding them
More play. Relaxing in the late aternoon sun in Stefans garden.
George discusses details with late GreatDoug McHard in the SAMS stand at Old Wardens Scale Flying day. George Hollingdale, one of the Aerographics building team looks on.
Why a picture of an ANT2. At a flying event at Medlanky, near BRNO in the Czech Republic this aircraft was on the field. A request to the crew, a swift whip round and up we went.
The gentleman between George and Penny is Richard Granger, who, apart from building exquisite model aeroplanes, running a 1912 steam car, vintage motorcycle and a 50's Bentley, is also the son of the Granger brothers who built the weird Archaeopteryx tailless aeroplane in 1930. This aircraft can now be seen at the Shuttleworth collection at Old Warden aerodrome near Biggleswade in Bedfordshire England.
The late and very much lamented Earl Van Gorder who wrote for years for the Flying Models Magazine in the US, and George from SAMS discuss a sample model of a Bleriot at the Watford indoor flying event. George is also holding an incredible pistachio version of the same aircraft powered by a G5 5.34 cu mm C02 motor.
Stefan Gasparin and Otakar Saffek at Watford. What a weekend that was. With Gasparin and his son with Otakar, Earl Van Gorder from the USA and many of the SAMS team, all at our regular Autumn indoor flying day at Watford. Check the Diary page for the date of the next meeting.
Stafan with Peter Smart, the designer of the Aerographics Lightning kit and well known in recent years for his incredible foam models of the Lancaster and the Bear, both of which flew on rubber motors, seen on the SAMS Olympia stand.
Some of the team in full flow during the Olympia Hobby show.
You can't get much closer than this for scale detail. Shuttleworth's Sea Hurricane with the front panels removed. Photo taken on same day as Scale shots for the Aerograpics Comper Swift when that aircraft was based at Old Warden
