Rapier Jet Motors

A very modern new approach to flying jet powered model airplanes.

Unlike Jetex, the Rapier system is a one shot unit, burn the motor and replace with a new one. Now available in 4 sizes. It is vital that the safety and instructions for use are carefully studied before use.

L1 Length 34mm, Diameter 10mm, Weight 4.5gms. Burn time 24 seconds, mean thrust 38 mN, peak thrust 55 mN, Total impulse 0.90 Ns. Comes in a box of 10 motors complete with 10 fuses in a separate compartment suitable for very small scale models or cavorted chuck gliders up to about 10" span. We offer a free plan from Peter Smart, the Scabbard for this motors size which builds into a very simple high performance model. The burn time of the motors varies a little between batches but is in the area ot 18 to 25 seconds, quite enough for a free flight model. Each lot varies a little in performance although dimensions remain the same.

L2LT Same dimention as L2 below but longer burn, 25 to 28 seconds and lower power, 90 mn. Box of 10 complete with fuses. For models up to about 14". Cat No. F421b £9.74 plus p&p

L2 Length 42mm, Diameter 11mm, Weight 6.5gms. Burn time 23 seconds, mean thrust 91 mN, peak thrust 135 mN, Total impulse 2.09 Ns. Each lot varies a little in performance although dimensions remain the same.A gain, comes in a box of 10 units with fuses. Suitable for scale models up to about 16" built light. The Aerographics Komet flies like a dream on this size of model and the upcomingBell X1 prototype also flew perfectly using this unit. The Scabbard plan enlarged 120% is also suitable.

L2HP. A new high powered version of the L2. This motors has a burn time ofabout 17 seconds but the thrust now is up to 220 to 250mn . Same weight and dimensions as standard L2.
This size of motor is also ideal for most of the Easy Built range of Jet models.

L3

The L3 is the largest unit currently available. This is a very powerful unit suitable for models up to about 20". Burn time. 19 seconds, mean thrust 327 mN, peak thrust 425 mN, total impulse 6.21 Ns. UK Price. £8.07 for 5 motors. Supplied in packs of 5 complete with fuses. The Aerographics Lightning is an awesome performer using this unit.
