On this page we go into a little more detail on the kinds of motive power we offer for models.

RUBBER
Rubber is a much underated source of power for small model aircraft. Here at SAMS we keep no less than 21 stock sizes of rubber strip for motors. From 020 (20 thousands of an inch, that's ½mm) to 250 thou, a ¼ of an inch, or 6mm. It is all one thickness, about .043, which is a fraction over 1mm. From 020 to 125 (1/8") we go up in 5 thou stages. There is a good reason for this. No two models are alike, of two models of the same span, one might climb to the roof on 7/64", while the other might not climb at all and need 1/8", on the other hand one or other or both might climb to hard and need to go down a size or two to get a correct flight pattern. Don't just assume that the rubber you get in a kit is ideal for all conditions, experiment with different sizes. Electric Motors

Electric flight has come on in an incredable fashion over the last 10 years. At SAMS, we have been selling the now famous Knight & Pridham motors since the original KP01 came out in the 80's. A great many of the models can be converted to fly with electric motors, many of the Aerographics range include details of how this can be done.

Rapier Jet Motors

Be different! Fly Jets. Rapier is really fun and they work every time!

Jet-X Motors

Jetex, now called Jet-X are back and freely available. 3 sizes are currently made, look into the Aerographics page for some models that can fly on these motors, there are more in the catalogue.
