On this page we show you a selection, by no means all, of models that fly indoors. Most of these models are not suitable for flying outdoors except on very calm dry evenings. We don't have room to go into full descriptions of each model so we have made a code to identify the minimum size of space a particular type of model will need to fly in. Obviously, any model will fly in any spaces larger than quoted. The Code. LR = Your own front room or a space about 10ft (3 mtr) square. *ScH = An average si school hall. SpH = A sports & leisure centre size of hall, about 28 to 30 feet high, 30 feet wide and 60 - 100 feet long. LSpH = A full size sports & leisure centre hall, same height and length as above but perhaps 60 - 90 feet wide. Baseball arenas, Airship Sheds, Aircraft Hangers etc. OT = Outside *ScH = An average size

Absolute beginners start here.
British Model Flying Association have a basic range of very simple kits
to start you off. Beginning with the Simple Glider. Very very easy to
build, this card wing design comes with a strong wooden fuselage and can
be assembled without a knife. Model includes notch for catapult launching.

The Second model in the BMFA range introduces rubber power. Built up on the plan, the Dart is very simple to build and fly. Millions have been made and flown around the world. Fly in sports halls or outside on a calm day.
Cat No. G9000. BMFA Dart. 30cm span. £2.54 plus p&p The third model in this series is the Gyminnie Cricket. 38cm span model which can be flown in school halls our outside on a calm day, this model needs a bit more skill to make than the dart but should fly for twice as long.

The last is the beginner range from BMFA is the Frog. The span is larger at 51cm and it has wheels so it can take off and land on a smooth surface. Printed wood panels need to be cut from balsa sheet with a knife.
